Privacy Policy
Short version: every test runs on your own device. We don't collect your keystrokes, audio, video or test results, we don't use tracking cookies, and there are no accounts.
Data Processed on Your Device Only
The following never leaves your browser and is never sent to us or anyone else:
- Microphone audio and the short recordings you make in the microphone test.
- Camera video in the webcam test.
- Keystrokes, mouse movements, clicks and controller input in every test.
- Test results, such as polling rate, DPI or typing speed.
Your browser asks for permission before a test can use your microphone or camera. Access ends when you stop the test or leave the page.
Data Stored in Your Browser
The clicks-per-second test saves your personal best score in your browser's local storage so you can track it between visits. It stays on your device, is never sent anywhere, and you can delete it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
Hosting and Analytics
TapTest is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web server, Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address and browser type to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse.
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages are popular. It doesn't use cookies, doesn't build profiles of individual visitors, and doesn't track you across other websites. We only see aggregated statistics such as page views and country.
Cookies
TapTest does not set any cookies.
Advertising
TapTest does not currently show ads. If we add advertising in the future, we'll update this policy before ads appear to explain what data advertising partners use and how you can control it, and we'll ask for your consent where the law requires it.
Children
TapTest is a general-audience website and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Your Rights
Because we don't collect personal data from the tests, there is normally nothing to access, correct or delete. If you have a question about your data or this policy, please contact us.
