About TapTest
TapTest is a collection of 20 free tools for checking the hardware you use every day — mice, keyboards, monitors, microphones, webcams, speakers, headphones and game controllers.
What We Believe
- Fast. Every page is built to load almost instantly, even on slow connections. No heavy frameworks, no waiting.
- Accurate. Each test uses the most precise measurement the browser allows — raw mouse input for DPI, uncoalesced pointer reports for polling rate, and median-based timing for refresh rates — and explains its limits honestly.
- Private. Every test runs entirely on your device. Keystrokes, audio and video are never uploaded, and there are no accounts or tracking cookies.
- Helpful. A number alone isn't useful. Each tool explains what your result means, what's normal, and how to fix common problems.
How the Tests Work
Modern browsers can read input devices, cameras, microphones and displays directly through standard web APIs. TapTest uses those APIs to measure your hardware without installing anything. Where a browser limits accuracy — for example, some browsers group mouse events together — the tool tells you so.
Explore the Tests

- Keyboard tests — every key, rollover, chatter and typing speed
- Display tests — dead pixels, refresh rate, ghosting and pixel density
- Audio and video tests — microphone, webcam, speakers and headphones
- Controller tests — gamepad buttons and stick drift
